The high-level dialogue between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the world’s political parties was held in Beijing from November 30th to December 3rd. Leaders of nearly 300 political parties and organizations from more than 120 countries attended the meeting. The reporter interviewed some European parliamentarians at the European Parliament in Brussels on the expectation of this dialogue.
Deva, a senior conservative member of the European Parliament, believes that the society, history and culture of the West and the East are different, and the status and role of political parties are not the same. Every country has the interests of political parties, the state and the people. Some political parties put their interests first, while others put the interests of the government above the interests of the people. the Communist Party of China (CPC) has found a road with China characteristics and in line with China’s national conditions, that is, putting the interests of the country and the people first. The Chinese Communist Party first considers national sovereignty and territorial integrity, safeguards the overall interests of the country, and regards the well-being of the people as the most important task.
Senator Deva said that it should be emphasized that the Communist Party of China (CPC) has found its own way. Taking poverty eradication as an example, China has made remarkable achievements, with fewer and fewer poor people, and the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China once again regards poverty eradication as its future goal. If a country’s political parties put their interests first and put the country and people behind them, it is impossible to achieve such achievements as China. In addition, the vast majority of the leaders of the Communist Party of China have gradually stepped into leadership positions through years of grassroots work. They know all aspects of China society and people’s thoughts. The dialogue held in Beijing brought together nearly 300 political parties and groups from more than 120 countries in the world to sum up and exchange experiences and lessons in governing the country. I believe that many political parties can learn useful experience from China and understand why China, led by the Communist Party of China, has made such brilliant achievements.
Senator Deva has worked in the European Parliament for many years. He believes that although the world is getting closer and closer, Westerners’ understanding of China is still very limited. They have adopted the ostrich policy and "turned a blind eye" to China’s development and achievements. Some westerners ignore China’s reform and opening-up policy, the fact that tens of millions of Chinese have been lifted out of poverty, and the fact that China has become a big country that cannot be underestimated in the world. In fact, in the history of mankind, China, Indian and other ancient civilizations have created brilliant human civilizations. However, with the colonial wars and usurpations of the West, the West has surpassed the East in the fields of economy, trade and technology. Now, the development of China makes some westerners feel uncomfortable, and some even advocate "China threat theory" and "China expansion theory", which is totally nonsense. China has no troops stationed overseas, China helps Africa to carry out large-scale infrastructure construction and investment cooperation, and China communicates with the world through the Belt and Road Initiative, with the aim of seeking world peace and common development. Today, China is moving towards a great rejuvenation, and the world will surely become more stable and prosperous as a result.
Daru Frunzulika, a member of the Social Democratic Party of the European Parliament, said that political parties are vital to national stability, peace and development, and the international community has high hopes for this high-level dialogue meeting of political parties in Beijing. It is true that there are differences between the Chinese Communist Party and western political parties, but we also share many common goals, especially in promoting peace and the development of human society.
Frenzulika emphasized that he fully agreed with the proposition of "building a community of human destiny" put forward by the Supreme Leader. He said that the report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China also made a plan for the future development of China. He believes that to build a community of human destiny, we must cooperate and share. Nearly 300 political parties and organizations have "talked around the stove" with the CPC. Foreign political parties and political organizations can learn from China’s wisdom in governing the country and the country’s governance plan. At the same time, it is of great significance to explore ways and channels to further expand political party cooperation with China.
He said that a high-level meeting on EU-China strategic cooperation will be organized in the European Parliament next spring, and preparations are being actively made. As two important poles in the world, the EU and China play an important role in national construction and safeguarding world peace, security and development. Europe and China should work together to accelerate the implementation of the China-EU Cooperation 2020 Strategic Plan. The EU is facing such problems as terrorism, illegal immigration and refugee flows, global warming and so on. The world is getting smaller and smaller, and we live in the same global village. The EU and China have reached a cooperation agreement in the field of gas change, which has set an example for the world. In the new era, all countries in the world need to cooperate more closely, instead of adopting a hostile attitude or "closing the door" to each other and refusing to undertake more international responsibilities. Europe and China should strengthen their strategic partnership for the benefit of both peoples.
Van Gehan, a member of the Labour Party of the European Parliament, said that the responsibility and obligation of political parties is to safeguard the stability, unity and economic prosperity of the country. The goal of the community of human destiny is to make the people of the world benefit from global development. Therefore, it is a great event to celebrate that political parties from all over the world exchange experiences together in Beijing. Although China and western countries have different regimes, it does not hinder the exchanges and cooperation between them. Both the Communist Party of China (CPC) and western political parties hope to bring benefits to the people, achieve prosperity and peace, and create a better future.
Van Gehan said that as a member of the EU-China Friendship Group of the European Parliament, he has visited China more than ten times, had extensive contacts with government officials at all levels in China, and witnessed the development and changes of China. The Chinese nation loves peace and freedom. History and present have proved that China will not expand abroad. China is getting better and better, and its people are getting richer. The EU, like China, supports the establishment of a multipolar world and opposes any country becoming the "hegemon" of the world. The European Parliament supports maintaining high-level dialogue and exchanges between Europe and China, and at the same time, it should strengthen regional and people-to-people exchanges.
Gailin, Secretary-General of the EU-China Friendship Group of the European Parliament, said that it is of great significance for nearly 300 political parties to hold a dialogue meeting in Beijing on "Building a Community of Human Destiny and Building a Better World Together: the Responsibility of Political Parties", which shows that while taking the interests of the people of China as the foundation, the CPC also shoulders the responsibility of a big country and cooperates with all political parties in the world to seek to jointly build a community of human destiny. The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China established a more powerful leadership core. This dialogue embodies the spirit of seeking truth from facts. Against the background of the rise of western nationalism and populism, the dialogue will reflect the CPC’s courage to take responsibility.
Gailin said that although many political parties in western countries flaunt national interests as their responsibility, they often only represent the interests of a certain social class, and no political party can represent the interests of the whole society or the broad masses of the people. The CPC is not only supported by the people of China, but also the ruling idea of the CPC is very different from those western political parties that only get the support of some people’s votes and ignore the interests of others. The report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China promised that no one should fall behind on the road to a well-off society. Such a political party, which is supported by the whole people and gives full consideration to the interests of all social strata, can unite political parties all over the world and lead the construction of a community of human destiny under the current international situation.
