"Children want to raise but don’t stay with their relatives." Since their mother died in an accident, Gao Peng, a policeman born in 1980s, was heartbroken. Therefore, when he accidentally walked into a nursing home and saw the lonely life of the elderly and the disappointment in the eyes of the elderly before leaving, Gao Peng told the elderly, "Don’t worry, I will come to see you often." In this way, he taught himself to have a haircut, pedicure and massage. Since 2010, he has been a volunteer in the nursing home silently (see photo), and he has used his rest time to serve in the nursing home two or three times a week. So far, he has accumulated more than 500 times and served the elderly for more than 1,000 times.
The pain in the heart of "the king of solving crimes"
After graduating from the police academy in 2003, Gao Peng came to the pre-trial office of Haidian Public Security Bureau. In order to make a name for himself early, he gave up holidays and followed his predecessors all day. My parents who live in Miyun have no complaints about this. "I want to try ten things that others can learn when trying a case; It takes 1 hour for others to hear a case, and it takes 3 hours for me; I work overtime when others get off work. " Gao Peng said. In this way, by 2007, Gao Peng had solved more than 240 cases throughout the year, ranking first in the whole region and becoming a veritable "king of solving crimes".
During the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Gao Peng was on duty all the time. After completing the closing ceremony, he was planning to take a vacation home to spend a few days with his parents, but he accidentally received the news that his mother had died in a car accident. Seeing his father who was old all night, Gao Peng said that his heart was broken. "I was like a lost soul at that time. It was the biggest regret that I didn’t do filial piety for my mother, and I was stuck in my heart." In this way, "the son wants to be filial and does not stay close" has become the eternal pain in Gao Peng’s heart.
A promise to stick to it for 8 years
In June, 2010, when Gao Peng was handling a case, he passed by Cuihu Nursing Home near his unit and walked in involuntarily. "The old people are looking at the gate through the window, looking forward to their children coming to see them. When I saw the scene, I felt uncomfortable. At that time, my parents also hoped that I would go home. " Speaking of which, Gao Peng looked up and fought back tears.
On that day, Gao Peng chatted with the old man, and the old man laughed at his jokes. When preparing to leave, an old man took Gao Peng’s hand and said, "Son, when will you come again?" Gao Peng took the old man’s hand as a guarantee. "Don’t worry, I will come to see you often.".
In this way, there was another volunteer in the nursing home. Seeing that the old man’s legs and feet were inconvenient, Gao Peng taught himself pedicure and massage, and bought scissors and clippers to help the old man get a haircut. "Sometimes I go to the nursing home after work for three or four hours, but I don’t feel tired. I feel that filial piety is like serving my parents at home, and my heart is very fulfilling and happy. " Gao Peng said. In the past two years, no one knew that this enthusiastic young man with a pusher and pedicure knife turned out to be the "king of solving crimes" in the whole region.
Drive everyone with action
Once, a colleague went to a nursing home to handle a case and met Gao Peng who was doing volunteer work. Only then did everyone know the truth. "I am old and old. I believe my mother can see it. " Gao Peng said. His words touched many people, and his kindness also influenced many people.
Under the leadership of Gao Peng, in May 2012, Haidian District Detention Center set up a volunteer service team to learn from Lei Feng in "Rainbow Spring", led by party member police and widely participated by social volunteers, and at the same time set up a dedicated "Love and Help the Elderly Foundation". Every weekend or major holiday, the service team will go to the nursing home to carry out colorful volunteer service activities. Birthday for the elderly, send birthday cakes; Get together with the old people and perform wonderful cultural programs; Help the elderly who can’t take care of themselves to do housework, get a haircut and wash their feet; Massage, measure blood pressure and pulse for the sick elderly; Have a heart-to-heart chat with the elderly who live in a closed circle and are far away from their families, explain the security knowledge to them, and let the old people enhance their awareness of self-protection. Over time, the old people in nursing homes have forged a deep friendship with Gao Peng and the members of Lei Feng’s volunteer service team who studied in Rainbow Spring.
It is reported that at present, the service team has recruited 72 police volunteers and 316 social volunteers, and the "Rainbow Spring" learning Lei Feng volunteer service team has also been awarded the honorary title of "National Public Security Organs Learning Lei Feng Activities Outstanding Collective" by the Ministry of Public Security; Awarded the honorary title of "2013 Excellent Volunteer Service Team" by Haidian District Volunteers Federation.
