Brief introduction of departments

Founded in 1956, the Pediatrics Department of the Bayi Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army is a department integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and health care. After 60 years of construction and development, the department now has 35 beds, 1 chief physician, 2 deputy chief physicians, 3 attending physicians, 4 physicians and 19 strong nursing teams. There are nearly 40,000 outpatient and emergency patients and 1,500 inpatient patients. There is a holiday-free clinic all year round, with three senior experts sitting in turn, and there are pediatric internal medicine ward, pediatric outpatient service, pediatric emergency service, pediatric asthma center, child growth and development health care department, pediatric outpatient infusion room, etc. All medical staff in pediatrics are willing to serve the majority of children with superb medical skills and enthusiastic service attitude.

He is good at the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases, digestive diseases, circulatory diseases, urinary diseases, nervous system diseases and immune system diseases in children. He has accumulated rich experience in the diagnosis and treatment of rare, difficult and critical diseases in pediatrics, such as lactose intolerance, transient hyperphosphataemia in infants, glycogen storage disease, breast milk jaundice, etc. The diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases in children (such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, atopic dermatitis and food allergy) is more distinctive, and enjoys a high reputation in Nanjing and its surrounding areas. Specific immunotherapy (desensitization therapy) has alleviated the symptoms and signs of many children with refractory asthma, leading to cure.

1. The former military region eugenics center work.

In the 1980s, pediatrics had a sound child health care system, and in 1988, it was awarded as the technical guidance station for prenatal and postnatal care in Bayi Hospital by the former military region. In 2000, it was upgraded to the family planning center of the former military region by the examination and approval of the former military region Ministry of Health and pediatric experts. The center insists on the management of children’s health care system for the army and the grass-roots units, and carries out health examination, nutrition and intellectual development monitoring of healthy children, identification of sick and disabled children, psychological counseling for children, psychological behavior measurement of children, intelligence screening of children, nutrition measurement of children and determination of trace elements of children for the army and local children. Provide guidance for children’s growth, development and feeding, and carry out special diagnosis and treatment of anorexia, short stature and obesity in children, as well as guidance for children’s excellent education. Educate and educate children for the prevention and treatment of common diseases all the year round, and hold various forms of TV, radio, live lectures and parents’ schools to the army and local authorities for many times. In the past ten years, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, clinical laboratory and other related departments have worked together to win the national advanced unit of prenatal and postnatal care for three times.

2. Allergic diseases and children’s asthma center

Since the establishment of this college for more than ten years, we have carried out allergen detection (acupuncture and in vitro allergen detection) on bronchial asthma (including allergic cough), allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, pollinosis and various skin allergies to find allergens, and have taken the lead in developing specific immunotherapy (desensitization therapy) in Nanjing and the military, and achieved good results. A children’s asthma center was established, and a lung function detector was introduced to analyze the severity of the disease and guide the treatment. Comprehensive treatment and specific desensitization immunotherapy were carried out according to the GINA scheme formulated by the international asthma organization, which effectively controlled the asthma symptoms and reduced the recurrence. From the beginning of childhood asthma with a single disease to the treatment of various allergic diseases, from children to adults with allergic diseases, from the increase of patients in the city to outside the province, the popularity of this major has gradually increased. It has been invited to hold TV lectures on childhood asthma in Jiangsu and Nanjing TV stations for many times, and has held various summer camps and winter camps for children with asthma, and held interesting lectures on asthma knowledge and prize-winning questions and answers, which have been welcomed by parents and children. The department summed up the clinical experience in time, and the clinical and basic research on asthma in children won a third prize for military medical achievements of the whole army and a number of second and third prizes for hospital medical achievements.

3. Study on the etiology of respiratory and digestive tract infections in children.

In China, it was the first to report the research of Brevibacterium catarrhalis in children’s respiratory tract infection diseases, and it was the first to carry out the research of Coxsackie virus and echovirus in children’s respiratory tract and digestive tract infection diseases in our province, and won three third prizes of the military scientific and technological progress award successively. In recent years, pathogenic detection of mycoplasma pneumoniae, chlamydia pneumoniae, respiratory syncytial virus, rotavirus and EB virus has been carried out, which provides a basis for early diagnosis of pneumonia and rational use of antibiotics.

4. Diagnosis and treatment of malignant solid tumors and hematological tumors in children

The Cancer Center of the Bayi Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army is the cancer center of the whole army of the People’s Liberation Army. For many years, the pediatric department has applied the comprehensive treatment scheme of multi-drug combined chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy to treat children’s solid tumors (nephroblastoma, neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, primitive neuroectodermal tumor, etc.) and blood tumors (leukemia, malignant lymphoma, etc.), and achieved good results, most of which achieved complete remission and prolonged the lives of children.

5. Children’s short clinic

The Department of Child Growth and Development screens short children whose height is less than 2 percentiles among healthy children, carries out genetic and endocrine disease screening, predicts their future height, and carries out related comprehensive treatment such as growth hormone.

6. Pediatric anorexia clinic
